Washburn Tech Seedling Donation

Washburn Tech Seedling Donation

Over the weekend, Washburn Tech donated over 1,000 plants to community gardens supported by Topeka Common Ground. We are thrilled with the outcome and pleased with our partnership with Washburn Tech.

The plant donations included broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and kale. A second give away will happen in early May. We estimate that the vegetables will feed 3,500 members of the Topeka community.

Topeka Common Ground at the Kansas City Community Gardens

On October 15th, Rosemary, Wendy, and Cari had the wonderful opportunity to accompany a Girl Scouts Troop to the Kansas City Community Gardens. Their website is kccg.org. We got some great photographs as well as lessons on some of the vast variety of plants they grow at the gardens. We saw toothache plants, lettuce, spinach, succulents, papyrus, cotton, snake gourds, chia, patchouli, basil, peppers, and MUCH MUCH more. What a fun day!
Here the girls are in the entrance to the gardens.

Here’s a view of the lettuces. They were beautiful little sculptures!
